Shoden – Reiki One
Shoden is a Japanese word meaning “first teachings.” These are the first teachings of the system of Reiki. In this practical Shoden course, you will learn how to help yourself with a daily healing practice and how you can also help your friends and family using Japanese healing techniques. This class teaches Reiki for all species. It is suitable for beginners and practitioners of all levels of Reiki from other lineages. The traditional Japanese techniques and general principles taught in this class are different from those of Western Reiki that is usually taught in North America. For example, the energy centres in the human body are the Three Diamonds, while Western Reiki uses chakras. In the teachings of the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage, Reiki is the same no matter who it is offered to. The class includes techniques for self-treatment, hand positions for hands-on treatment of people, and sharing Reiki with each other, cats, chickens, plants and trees. The class follows the traditional Japanese Reiki teachings of Mikao Usui as taught by Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki and fulfils the Codes of Practice of the Shibumi International Reiki Association.
